2024
BRC Rehearsal
Thursday, around 8:30 pm (following the Director/Quartet Briefing)
Holiday Inn Conference Centre
Sing Blue Ribbon Entrance Tag to congratulate Firefly and welcome them into the Blue Ribbon Club
Each year we will try to do something a little different if you are all committed to learning a song. We will talk about this at our rehearsal. But for this year, we will learn a new song, Hallelujah Barbershop.
Quartet Contest
Wear BRC ribbon
Sit in VIP seating during quartet contest, if you wish
Gather in green room immediately following the final quartet contestant
We will enter the stage as a chorus (not individual quartets)
After a short personal conversation with the audience, June will announce the BRC and we will open with Winnin’ the Blue.
Winnin’ The Blue—a different approach this year. We will be starting the intro and then will be the backdrop (with oo’s) while June continues to talk at the podium about the formation of the Blue Ribbon Club. We will then come in for the tag. Susann will forward sheet music and tracks for this song for those who do not have it ( even though we will not sing them all, learn all the words as Erin isn't sure about the timing yet of June finishing within the presentation of the song)
June will announce the Outgoing Champions Firefly for their outgoing set (Firefly will sing 2 songs of their choice)
Strike a Chord will present the BRC Ribbons/Congratulate Firefly at centre stage as our most recent Champions prior to Firefly while the BRC sings Auld Lang Syne.
Auld Lang Syne with slight adjustment to the Lyrics:
"So let us sing our song together
And celebrate Firefly (instead of “and make our sound devine”)
Let’s keep their memories golden
For the sake of Auld Lang Syne
Hallelujah Barbershop - we will encourage others to join in after the key change with clapping. This is the song Erin used at Fall Music School several years ago. It is one page, repetitive and very easy. A friend of Erin's wrote this song with his quartet and June arranged it for North Metro originally. Although NMC still has it in their rep, Erin thought it would be a great way to finish our BRC set, with great messaging and strong barbershop chords. Thanks to June Dale for this amazing arrangement!
